Our school newspaper for this year

The students of 5th Grade made a newspaper this year. Some of them participated eagerly in the process, like real reporters. They all deserve congratulations!

A field trip to the castle of Methoni

Two days ago the 5th and 3rd Grade went on a field trip to the Venetian castle of the town Methoni.

We went by coach and it took us one hour and a half to get there. The weather was good - a little sunny, a little windy, a little hot, a little bit of everything!

When we arrived there, we sat at the square near the beach to have a snack and then we took a tour of the castle. We saw the big walls, the emblem of the castle (the lion of Saint Mark), the moat, the canons - even the little colourful flowers and the bugs flying all around us!

We also visited the church and the octagonal tower on Bourtzi, standing in the middle of the sea. The view was wonderful from up there with the waves hitting against the rocks!

The 5th graders and their teachers explained a lot of things about the castle and its history and we took a lot of photos. You can enjoy them in the slideshow below.

When we left the castle, we spent some time at the beach, under the shade of the trees, playing, chatting, laughing and having ice cream!

Our Vokis

In the computer world, an avatar is a character that represents an online user. Avatars are used in multiplayer gaming, online communities, and Web forums. A voki is a speaking avatar. Click the Play button below to hear my avatar explain how you can make a similar one. You can also read my detailed instructions here.

Look at another example with Nadine, Kostas and Mark here and, if you don' t remember how to post a comment, watch the video here.

THE STUDENTS' VOKIS
After solving the usual problems with our old PC' s which were not working, here are the students' vokis! They are talking about the place where they live and compare it with other places.

A specialist talks to us about Internet safety

Today at school the 5th grade had the chance to listen to a talk about the Internet and being safe while using it.  You know, technology is a powerful tool but we must learn how to use it and avoid its dangers.

This blog is a tool we can all use to communicate, share our ideas and thoughts, comment on each other' s posts, agree and disagree.

This blog gets better when you participate with your own comments. So, please, do share with the rest of us your impressions from today' s talk at school.

How do I post a comment?

Do you want to know how much you know about internet safety? Do the quiz!

Did you know we are eTwinners?

Our school is taking part in an eTwinning project this year. Each participating school has to write and illustrate a story based on another school' s wordlist.

Here are my 5th Grade' s first two stories! Enjoy them and forgive us for any mistakes!

Here are the next two stories for November:

Every problem has a solution

In E class, we learnt how to talk about problems, give our opinion and suggest a solution. The students made some drawings about the things we discussed.
